About the Program
Department of Mathematics and Science Education, The primary purpose of the Department of Mathematics Education is for secondary school level, i.e., 5-8. to train mathematics teachers who will provide education in classrooms. Graduated students will work as teachers and administrators in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, private schools, and various institutions. There are opportunities to work as a lecturer at multiple universities while continuing graduate and doctoral studies. Students are entitled to study by settling in our department according to the results of the central examination conducted by ÖSYM. Student purchases are made according to the Mathematics Science 1 (MF-1) score.

In mathematics education, it is to train teachers and academicians who follow the latest developments, research, apply, think intellectually and creatively, are ready for the innovations of the information society, meet the requirements of the modern world. Our students can produce information, use it functionally in life, solve problems, think critically and analytically, be entrepreneurial, determined, have communication skills, empathize, contribute to society and cultural accumulation, etc., to ensure the sensitivity required for the education of qualified individuals is shown. To encourage our faculty members to conduct national and international academic activities and create a vital department in all aspects.

Degree and Level Awarded
Secondary School Mathematics Education is an undergraduate degree program and provides Overarching Framework of European Qualifications, Framework of HE(QF-EHEA), The European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL), and minimum level of Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (THEQF) with a minimum of 240 ECTS credit.
When the program is completed and the program qualifications are met, Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education is obtained.
Admission Requirements
Admission of national students to the Secondary School Mathematics Education programme is allowed through the nationally centralised Student Selection Examination conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). Graduation Requirements
Requirements of to qualify in this field by graduating from Secondary School Mathematics Teacher Education program
To achieve all courses with 240 ECTS credits in the course plan
Having a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students may apply to be exempted from the courses they have taken from the higher education institutions they have enrolled in before or from an approved institution. The exemption requests are decided by the board of directors, if necessary, by taking the opinion of the instructor giving the related course.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates from Secondary School Mathematics Teacher Education program can work in all official and private education institutions under the title of "Secondary School Mathematics Teacher”. In addition, if they meet the necessary conditions, they may have the opportunity to work as an academician in universities. Besides, they can acquire business opportunities in the private sector by improving their mathematics and computer training.
