Tabriz is one of the metropolitan cities of Iran and the capital of the East Azerbaijan Province. It is the largest city in the northwest (Azarbaijan) and serves as the administrative, communication, commercial, political, scientific, industrial, cultural and military centre of the region. Owing to its large factories and industries, it is regarded as the country's second industrial city after Tehran.
With its culture, it is also one of the country's most important cities in attracting migrants. Iran's first printing press, city hall, post office and public cinema were established in Tabriz; for this reason it is known as the city of firsts.
Because begging has been eliminated in Tabriz, it is known as a city without beggars. The World Health Organization selected Tabriz as the healthiest city in Iran. The city is known as the "investment region of Iran" because it attracts capital investment from the private sector; it has ranked first in the country for capital investment for 5 consecutive years. Tabriz is also known as Iran's second university city after Tehran, as it is home to 9 leading state universities and several non-state universities.

Studying at UDG is a challenge. Especially for those of you who believe in yourselves and in the power of vision to build your own future. UDG's mission is to create the conditions for working according to the principles of high-quality European education. Several generations of graduates who are successfully pursuing master's and doctoral studies in the West, or who are already highly successful in the companies and institutions where they found employment immediately after graduation, show that this is achievable. Some opened their own companies with UDG's help while still studying, and many are considering doing so.
One of UDG's key advantages is that it fosters multidisciplinarity. Being housed in a modern building, with ten undergraduate study programs, around 25 master's and 3 doctoral programs, and close to 2000 students, naturally allows for the synergistic interaction of various professions and vocations. Many foreign teachers and administrators praise studying at UDG because it is not mass education. Indeed, the studies are oriented towards the student as an individual whose character we shape through personal communication and group work. In addition to investment in fundamental technical knowledge, a great deal is invested in students' skills. In particular, investment is made in IT skills, research skills, an entrepreneurial approach to life and communication skills. Through our prestigious language school, we work so that our students will command 2-3, or perhaps even four, foreign languages upon graduation. We are probably one of the few universities that invests heavily in students' general education, literature and culture, entertainment, sports, travel and artistic activities.
