The registration dates and locations for students placed in our university's undergraduate programs through the ÖSYM central placement exam results are stated on the ÖSYM result documents.
Final registration at our University is carried out between the dates specified on the ÖSYM result document, through the Council of Higher Education's University E-Registration System (https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/yok-universite-ekayit).
To use this service, you must be able to log in to the e-Government Gateway System using one of the following methods: e-Government Password, Electronic Signature, Mobile Signature, or Internet Banking.
Our University may request documents in addition to the registration documents specified in the ÖSYM Guide. You can find the documents required for registration and registration information at www.izu.edu.tr.
A student who does not complete final registration within the registration dates announced by ÖSYM is considered to have forfeited their right to register.
At the beginning of each semester, within the periods specified in the academic calendar, students must pay their tuition fees, renew their registration, and complete their course registration with the support of an advisor. The student finalizes their course registration by selecting courses through the campus information system for the relevant semester and obtaining their advisor's approval.
Students are required to enroll in the courses of their programs according to the order specified in the course curricula. Students must first enroll in courses from lower semesters that they have failed or have not taken before. These courses are offered starting from the lower semesters; for courses that have been removed from the curriculum or are not offered, other designated courses are taken instead.
Course add-drop transactions are carried out with advisor approval within two weeks from the start of each semester. During this period, students may drop some of the courses they previously enrolled in or add new ones. When adding courses, students must select courses that do not conflict in the weekly course schedule.
Students may withdraw from one or more of their registered courses with their advisor's approval by the end of the seventh week. In this case, no refund is made from the semester tuition fee. Students may withdraw from a maximum of four courses during their undergraduate studies.
Students cannot withdraw from the following courses:
a) Courses belonging to the first two semesters,
b) The only course they registered for in the relevant semester,
c) A course that should have been taken in a previous semester but was not taken, or was taken and failed,
ç) A course that should have been taken within the normal period of study but was not taken.
Students who receive an FF, FD, DZ, YZ, or ÇK grade in a course must retake that course the first time it is offered again.
Provided they pay their tuition fees, students may request a leave of absence for justified and valid reasons, by decision of the relevant administrative board, for a maximum of four semesters in undergraduate programs, not exceeding two semesters at a time.
It is possible to take a leave of absence in accordance with our University's Undergraduate Education and Teaching Regulation. If the reasons stated in our University's Undergraduate Education and Teaching Regulation are found to be justified and valid and are documented, the student must apply directly to the relevant secretariat at the latest within the first two weeks following the start of classes. Except in mandatory cases, leave of absence applications made after these periods are not accepted.
(1) These are scholarships and discounts granted to students placed in the quotas listed in the YKS Guide based on the results of the central placement exam or special talent exam conducted by ÖSYM. In the admission of students to undergraduate programs through the special talent exam, the ranking and placement procedures as well as the determination of students' scholarship/discount rates are carried out based on the overall success scores in the special talent exams conducted by the University. As used in this Directive;
a) Scholarship: The full tuition fee,
b) 50% Discount: Half of the tuition fee,
c) 25% Discount: A quarter of the tuition fee,
shall have the meanings set out above.
(2) At the University, ÖSYM scholarships and discounts are granted for the normal duration of the program: one year for optional foreign language preparatory education, two years for mandatory foreign language preparatory education, and four years for undergraduate education.
(3) ÖSYM scholarships and discounts are non-repayable and continue throughout the normal duration of the undergraduate program without any success requirements such as passing courses or maintaining a certain weighted grade point average.
(4) Scholarship/discount holders who, while enrolled in a University undergraduate program, take the central placement exam conducted by ÖSYM and are admitted to the University again lose their previous scholarship/discount rights if they re-register in a University undergraduate program.
(5) Students who have previously graduated from a formal undergraduate program at any higher education institution and are placed in a scholarship or discounted undergraduate program at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University based on YKS results are not eligible for ÖSYM scholarships and discounts. These students are registered in the paid program.
Newly registered students who have previously studied at a higher education institution whose equivalence has been recognized by the Council of Higher Education may request an exemption for the courses they took and passed at that institution. They must apply with a petition, along with the original transcript and course content documents, to the relevant faculty within five days at the latest from the date they register at the university.
Documents obtained from higher education institutions abroad (except universities in the TRNC) must be apostilled. Students may not request an exemption with a document that has not been apostilled.
For a student registering at the University for the first time, exemption from the preparatory class is granted by decision of the relevant Faculty Administrative Board, based on the document showing the grades and success status obtained in the foreign language preparatory class of another university.
Students who register for an undergraduate program taught fully or partially in a foreign language and, despite attending the foreign language preparatory class, fail to successfully complete it within two years, are dismissed from the program. Undergraduate students dismissed from their program due to failure in the preparatory class may register for an equivalent Turkish-medium program at our University. However, if requested, these students may, on a one-time basis, be centrally placed by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center Presidency into one of the Turkish-medium programs as of the year of their registration, provided that their university entrance score is not lower than the minimum score required for admission to the program they will be placed in.
At our University, students are required to attend all courses and all activities, projects, workshops, laboratory studies, practical applications, and seminars included in the course. Students must attend at least 85% of the foreign language preparatory class sessions in a module, and in undergraduate programs, at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of practical courses within a semester.
From the beginning of the third semester onward, students who have passed all courses in lower semesters and have a CGPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 may, with their academic advisor's approval, take up to two courses from upper semesters for each semester they meet this requirement; students with a CGPA of 3.50 or above may take up to three courses.
Appeals against exam results must be submitted by the student to the relevant dean's office/directorate within five business days following the announcement of exam grades.
This is an exam held for students who are unable to take midterm exams due to a valid excuse. Students who cannot attend midterm exams due to a valid excuse must submit a document stating their excuse, attached to a petition, to the relevant secretariat within five days at the latest from the exam date. Students whose excuses are accepted by the relevant administrative board are given a makeup exam within fifteen business days following the end of the exams.
For a student who has at most two failed courses remaining for graduation, or who is in a position to graduate by passing at most two course exams, a graduation exam is held within 15 days following the end-of-semester exams, upon the student's application with a petition to the relevant dean's office/directorate and decision of the relevant administrative board. The student must have previously taken the course for which they will sit the graduation exam and must have fulfilled its attendance requirement. A student who fails the graduation exam may make use of this right again during the following end-of-semester exam periods. The grade received in the graduation exam is directly converted by the instructor into a letter grade according to the 100-point grading scale ranges.
Students who wish to withdraw from their registration on their own request apply to the Directorate of Student Affairs with a "clearance form" and a "clearance petition" approved by the Directorate of Administrative and Financial Affairs, the Directorate of Library and Documentation, and the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports. Students who newly register or renew their registration at the beginning of the academic year and later wish to leave must fulfill their financial obligations, including those from previous years, up to the date they wish to leave. Withdrawal cannot be processed by mail. The student's personal written application is required. However, in special cases, provided the student has fulfilled their financial obligations, the student may withdraw from the University through a proxy designated via a notary.
This is a program that allows students who meet the success requirement and other conditions to take courses simultaneously from two diploma programs at the same higher education institution and obtain two separate diplomas.
At our University, students study on a full scholarship basis for the normal duration of the double major program they are enrolled in. Students who cannot graduate from the double major program within the normal duration of study pay the ECTS credit fee for the double major courses they enroll in during subsequent semesters.
A student may apply for a second major diploma program at the earliest at the beginning of the third semester, and at the latest at the beginning of the fifth semester, of their primary major diploma program. Students whose overall grade point average in the primary major diploma program is at least 3.00 out of 4.00 at the time of application, and who are ranked within the top twenty percent in terms of success in their relevant class of the primary major diploma program, may apply for a second major diploma program. To apply for a double major diploma program, a student must have taken and passed all courses in the curriculum of the primary major diploma program up to the semester in which they apply.
This is a program that allows a student registered in a diploma program, provided they meet the required conditions, to obtain a certificate (minor certificate) that does not replace a diploma, by taking a limited number of courses focused on a specific subject within another diploma program at the same higher education institution.
At our University, students study on a full scholarship basis in the minor program they are enrolled in for the normal duration of their primary major program. Students who cannot successfully complete the minor program by the end of the normal duration of the primary major program pay the ECTS credit fee for the minor program courses they enroll in during subsequent semesters.
A student may apply for a minor program at the earliest at the beginning of the third semester, and at the latest at the beginning of the sixth semester, of their primary major undergraduate program. Students who have taken and passed all courses in the curriculum of the undergraduate program they are enrolled in, up to the semester in which they apply, may apply for a minor program. The student's overall grade point average in the primary major program must be at least 2.5 out of 4.00 at the time of application.
Students who have not received any disciplinary penalty during their studies and complete their studies with a CGPA of at least 3.50 are awarded a certificate of high honor, while those who complete with a CGPA between 3.00 and 3.49 are awarded a certificate of honor. For students eligible for a certificate of honor or high honor based on their CGPA at the end of their undergraduate education, their status as an honor or high honor student is noted on the back of their diploma and in the diploma supplement, and the certificate is given along with the diploma.
At the end of each academic year, students who have taken and passed all compulsory and elective courses listed in the curriculum of the program they are enrolled in up to the year in which the academic achievement score is calculated, who have a weighted CGPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00, and who rank in the top three of their class (including fully scholarshipped students) are granted an additional discount solely on the tuition fee payable to the University in the following academic year: 100% for first place, 75% for second place, and 50% for third place.
Military service deferral procedures are carried out in accordance with Military Service Law No. 1111, http://www.asal.msb.gov.tr. Military deferral for students enrolled in undergraduate programs is granted up to the age of 29. Military deferral is not processed for students aged 30 and above. In cases where student status ends due to graduation, voluntary withdrawal, or dismissal due to failure, the deferral is cancelled. Deferral is not processed for students pursuing a second university degree.
A full-time faculty member or instructor is assigned as an advisor for each student by the relevant department/program chairmanship. The advisor monitors the student throughout their studies and informs and guides them regarding undergraduate education, relevant regulations, and academic performance.
A student who has passed the common compulsory courses specified in paragraph (ı) of the first clause of Article 5 of Law No. 2547, as well as all courses in the first four semesters of the curriculum of the undergraduate program they are enrolled in, and who has raised their CGPA to at least 2.00, may be granted an associate degree diploma by decision of the relevant administrative board, upon application with a petition to the relevant Faculty/School Secretariat, in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on the Granting of Associate Degree Diplomas or Transfer to Vocational Schools for Those Who Have Not Completed or Cannot Complete Undergraduate Education, published in the Official Gazette dated 18/3/1989 and numbered 20112.
Students who successfully complete the compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum of the undergraduate program they are enrolled in, have a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and fulfill their other obligations, are awarded the undergraduate diploma of the program they are enrolled in, along with a diploma supplement that helps with the international recognition of academic and professional qualifications. Students who register through inter-institutional transfer must take and pass at least 60 ECTS credits of coursework at the University in order to receive an undergraduate diploma.
Transfers from other higher education institutions to the University, as well as transfers between faculties, schools, and departments/programs within the University, are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Level Programs at Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer, and the principles determined by the Senate.
