Course Objective

To be able to use problem solving in mathematics teaching according to aims and to prepare rich learning environments with problem based learning

Course Content

Problem and problem solving, types of problems, the importance of problem-solving instruction, recent developments in problem-solving, mathematical problem-solving strategies and the importance of multiple representations in problem-solving; examples of problems that can be solved by different problem-solving strategies, evaluation of problem-solving; definition of the problem, process, properties and importance, problem-posing classifications, problem-posing strategies, different problem posing studies; problem-solving in secondary school mathematics curriculum and textbooks; evaluation of problems.
