1. Cell Culture Laboratory

Established in April 2020, the Cell Culture Laboratory of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University is designed in accordance with international standards and serves as a modern laboratory in which numerous research projects and thesis studies are conducted. With its rich cell collection, advanced equipment and well-trained researchers, it has supported many units and has come to provide consultancy services. Its principal research topics include the development of new natural products for cancer treatment and the determination of their efficacy, investigation of synergistic effects in combination with existing chemotherapeutic agents, research into the molecular basis of metabolic diseases and the discovery of new therapeutic approaches, and the use of bioactive molecules synthesised in our laboratories for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

2. Molecular Analysis Laboratory

The Molecular Analysis Research Laboratory of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University is a laboratory in which numerous research projects and thesis studies are carried out and whose results are published in internationally recognised journals with high scientific impact factors.

Its principal research topics include investigating the effects of anti-cancer drugs on gene and protein expression, apoptotic cell death and the cell cycle in cancer treatment. The isolation of stem cells and their subsequent characterisation are also among our studies. In addition, the determination of neuroprotective effects in neurodegenerative diseases and ROS measurement are carried out.

With its extensive range of equipment and well-trained researchers, it has supported many units and has come to provide consultancy services. Flow cytometry is frequently used in both basic research and clinical practice. Using this device, cell characterisation, determination of apoptotic cell death, cell cycle analysis and ROS analyses are performed routinely in our laboratory thanks to our well-trained researchers. For protein and gene expression analyses, DNA isolation, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, PCR and qPCR reactions, protein isolation, SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, wet transfer and blotting studies are also carried out by our research groups.

NOTE: For Real-Time PCR, Gradient Thermal Cycler, and Gel Imaging and Analysis Systems, the devices at our centre located in the same building are used.
