- Internship applications must be made taking the application deadline into account.
- A "Compulsory Internship Letter" must be obtained from the Computer Engineering Department Secretariat.
- The Compulsory Internship Letter must be submitted to the institution where the internship application is being made at the time of application.
- Once acceptance has been received from the institution applied to, an internship application must be created under the Internships heading in the Campus Information System and the application form must be completed fully and accurately.
- The completed application form will be checked by the commission members. If the internship status is changed to "Application approved", a printout of the form must be taken.
- After the student confirms the accuracy of the information provided and signs the form, it must be taken to the institution where the internship will be carried out, and a signature and approval (stamp) must be obtained from the workplace official.
- At the institution where the internship will be carried out, there must be at least one official holding the title of "Engineer" with sufficient knowledge to supervise the intern's work.
- The form approved by the workplace official must be submitted to the departmental internship commission.
- Once the submitted form has been checked by the internship commission and the internship status is updated to "Documents approved", the internship application process will be complete.
- All internship-related processes must be followed through the Campus Information System.
In order to apply for a compulsory internship, students must have completed at least the 5th semester and be in their 6th semester. Internship application dates vary from company to company. In order for the internship procedures to be completed, application forms must be submitted to the commission at least three weeks before the internship start date.
It is sufficient to obtain the "Compulsory Internship Letter" from the Computer Engineering Department Secretariat.
- The internship placement must offer an internship that supports the courses taken in the department, must carry out work relevant to the field, and must employ engineers.
The Internship Commission decides whether the internship placement found and proposed by the student is suitable, within the framework of the principles applied in the relevant department (as also stated in Question 4).
If the institution applied to for the internship is not approved by the university, the student is informed and given a certain period of time to find a new internship placement. The internship application procedure is restarted and evaluated again.
The compulsory internship period is 30 working days.
No.
The total internship period may be divided, with each part being at least 15 working days, to be carried out at different institutions and on different dates, in accordance with the implementation principles (see: Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Computer Engineering Internship Implementation Guide 2.9).
No. As set out in the Faculty's implementation principles, internships are carried out during academic holidays. During the internship the student must have no academic obligations (courses, practical sessions, exams, etc.), and the internship period must consist of consecutive days, excluding public holidays (see: Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Computer Engineering Internship Implementation Guide 2.3).
No. In order to apply for an internship, students must have completed the 5th semester. Students admitted through horizontal or vertical transfer are subject to the same rule on the basis of the semester in which they are enrolled (see: Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Computer Engineering Internship Implementation Guide 2.4).
A voluntary internship may be undertaken provided that the compulsory internship is completed later; however, voluntary internships will not be recorded on transcripts. The compulsory internship application procedure and deadlines apply equally to voluntary internships.
The internship logbook is only written during the compulsory internship period. Students doing a voluntary internship do not keep a logbook. The logbook can be filled in via the Campus Information System from the internship start date for internships with the status "Documents approved". The student must describe the work carried out, the nature of the work, the task performed and its stages, using at least half a page for each working day. Once the required information has been entered for each internship day, the logbook is submitted to the relevant commission using the "Complete Internship Logbook" button. At this point, a printout of the completed logbook must be taken from the system, and the designated section on each page must be dated and approved (signature and stamp) by the official supervising the work.
After the internships are completed, the internship files containing the internship evaluation form and the internship logbook must be submitted in full to the Internship Commissions within a maximum of 10 working days from the end date of the internship. Internship files not submitted before the deadline are deemed invalid and require the internship to be repeated in the following internship period (see: Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Computer Engineering Internship Implementation Principles 2.8).
Yes. An internship of more than 30 days may be carried out, provided that the dates are determined in advance.
The Internship Commission decides whether the internship department is suitable, within the framework of the principles applied in the relevant department. The department in which the internship is carried out must be related to the field of Computer Engineering and must employ engineers.
In order to carry out their summer internships after the 3rd year, students must have taken the Internship 1 and Internship 2 courses. If the student has not taken either or both of these courses, they must submit a request to the relevant departmental internship commission to do an internship in that summer period. The internship commission evaluates matters such as the student's completed course load, academic performance and the suitability of the proposed internship placement, and decides whether or not to approve the internship (see: Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Undergraduate Education Internship Implementation Principles 2.5).
SGK registrations are completed a few days before the internship begins. The SGK registration document can be collected from the relevant department secretary as of the internship start date.
Accepted internships are recorded on transcripts together with the workplace details and internship dates, and can be viewed in the Internships section of the Campus Information System.
No. No approval form is issued once the internship application has been approved by the department. Only if the institution where the internship will take place requests it may a photocopy of the signed Internship Application Form submitted to the department be requested.
