Computer Engineering
The Molecular Biology and Genetics Undergraduate Programme is a 240-ECTS programme with a normal duration of 4 academic years consisting of 8 semesters. As in the other undergraduate departments of our University, 1 ECTS in the Molecular Biology and Genetics undergraduate programme corresponds to a student workload of 30 (hours/semester).
The aim of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is to give our students competence through theoretical courses in the undergraduate curriculum such as molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, cell biology, tissue engineering, cancer biology, neurobiology, bioinformatics and biotechnology, together with the related laboratory practice, and thereby to educate graduates with a leadership spirit who can produce solutions working in academia, industry (pharmaceuticals, vaccines, agriculture, etc.), diagnosis and treatment centres and national/international research centres and represent the country in the international arena, and who think, question, research, generate ideas, discover and respect ethical values in order to keep pace with ever-changing and advancing science and technology.
Opportunities Offered to Students:

- Opportunity to do a minor (with a scholarship for the normal duration of the major programme),
- Opportunity to do a double major (with a scholarship for the normal duration of the double major programme),
- Opportunity to study abroad through international exchange programmes (1 or 2 semesters),

Career Opportunities:
Our graduates can stay at the university and work as academics or serve as researchers at various institutes. They can also work in pharmaceutical companies, the food and agriculture industry, companies producing biomedical products, diagnosis and treatment centres, IVF centres, the Council of Forensic Medicine, national/international research centres, and stem cell and gene therapy centres and laboratories.
As molecular biology is the technology of the 21st century and its use in daily life will expand, the number of institutions and organizations employing molecular biologists is expected to increase and an ever-growing workforce will be needed.
