Programme Information

ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING (ENGLISH 30%)

About the Program

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (30% English) is designed with the purpose of preparing students both for a career in Electrical Engineering profession and for further studies in applied and theoretical research. The goal of the department is to graduate engineers with a strong level of knowledge in the basic areas of Electrical Engineering who are equipped with the capability and capacity to carry out research, and who maintain high professional ethics along with public awareness and environmental consciousness.

Furthermore, our department is aimed to train our students to have an analytical formation that knows how to access information when necessary, learns through research and can continuously renew itself for a lifetime. Students, who are provided with human knowledge, communication skills and cultural flexibility throughout their education, enable them to create and develop their interests, create an academic program with a strong humanities component, offer an education based on understanding and research rather than rote memorization, a close and warm student / lecturer relationship It is trained with the principles of establishment.

In our undergraduate education, students are given general engineering courses (physics, mathematics, computers, etc.) in the first year. In the second year, vocational courses begin in addition to general engineering formation courses. Students who have completed learning the fundamentals of electrical engineering in the third year, choose one of the four core courses (Electronics, Communication & Signal Processing, Control & Robotics, Power Systems, Renewable Energy) in the fourth year and continue in that field. In our department, besides the compulsory courses, there are rich elective course programs that students can take in line with their interests.

Degree and Level Awarded

Level of Qualification & Qualification Awarded:

This is a first cycle degree program in engineering, Electric and Electronics Engineering (240 ECTS).

You will be awarded, on successful completion of the programme and gain competencies, a degree of Bachelor in Electric and Electronics Engineering.

Admission Requirements

Admission of national students to the ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING (IN ENGLISH) programme is allowed through the nationally centralised Student Selection Examination (ÖSS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). For further information please visit General Admission Requirements and Registration Procedures in the menu items of the Information on the Institution and The Student Selection & Placement Centre (OSYM).

Admission of foreign students to the programme can be done upon an evaluation of the application of students directiy to the university. For further and detailed information please visit General Admission Requirements and Registration Procedures in the menu items of the Information on the Institution.

Graduation Requirements

Qualification Requirements and Regulations:

There is no final examination or examination period at the end of an academic year, or at the end of the study programme. There is, however, a final examination and examination periods, i.e., normally takes two weeks and starts immediately after at the end of each semester. Student is expected to have a successful completion of internship (60 working days) in industry before graduation. Internship is not credited in the programme though it is prerequisite for the graduation. However, the competences gained and workload needed with internship are ensured with the relevant courses` content, practice and worklaod in the programme. In addition to that student is required to complete a degree project and final year dissertation, (taken normally in 7th or 8th semester), which follows an oral presentation.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Procedures to recognise prior learning (RPL), including non-formal and informal learning, is in an early stage of development in Turkey and there is no a comprehensive and enabling legislative framework at the national level in place yet. However, within the institutional autonomy respected there are some implementations at the institutional level for allocating credits towards exemption from some programme requirements on the basis of RPL. This is particularly a wide spread exercise implemented in cases that students, having a certain level of knowledge, skills and competencies in relation to fields such as foreign languages and computer use, prior to admission to the university, are subjected to an examination and if they are found successful to a certain degree required by the programme they have been admitted to, they are exempted from the relevant course units of the course programme. RPL is also practiced for students who wish to transfer their studies to the equal or an upper levels at an another institution including those from abroad in the same or similar fields. In such cases, students, having received some course units in a previous programme they had studied and having been successful, may be  exempted from the same or similar course units of the programmes they are admitted to upon the approval the adaptation committees of the programmes.

Such procedures of recognition are also used comprehensively in practice at our university. The general arrangements for the recognition ofsuch implementations are outlined in the relevant section of our Education and Examination Regulations, Rules & Regulations for Graduate Programmes and that of Regulations for Lateral Transfer of Students.

Employment Opportunities

Occupational Profiles & Access to Further Studies:

Graduated students have opportunity to work in these fields; energy sector, electromechanically and electronic industry, electric and electronic units in public institutes, power stations of enterprises, village electrification, energy systems, industrial automation, correspondence, lighting, power fitting and software - hardware in computers.

Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with master and doctoral studies in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Access to Further Studies

The students graduating from this program may apply to second cycle programs.
