Founded in 2013 within Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education strengthened its structure in the 2016-2017 academic year when the Department of Turkish Language Teaching joined it as a division. The main aim of our department is to train Turkish teachers who are well-equipped in language and the social sciences, think critically, respond to the educational needs of the age, do research and are open to innovation. We aim for our students to graduate as individuals who can use their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society, embrace cultural values and have an awareness of professional ethics.
Although our department has Turkish, Social Studies, History, Geography and Turkish Language and Literature Teaching programmes, currently only the Turkish Language Teaching Programme admits students. Our students are entitled to a bachelor's degree after completing their eight-semester education.
