URBAN STUDIES AND MANAGEMENT - THESIS

About the Program

-It consists of seven courses (3 hours per week), graduate seminar, and thesis study (120 ECTS total). The normal duration of this program is 4 semesters; the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

- Students, who completed course phase, submit a thesis proposal with the thesis form to the Institute, before starting their theses. After their proposals approved by the Institute, they can start their theses.

Objectives

  1. Participants in this program will benefit from project research, development and management issues and acquire skills and competence in organization, planning, decision-making and management required by management. The Urban Studies and Management Master''''s program, which is very common in the world, but is a first in Turkey, is a special program in the development and provision of projects to public administrations and institutions that have similar activities, sector employees target individuals. The program also targets individuals who are interested in developing academic careers in their respective fields.
  2. The purpose of the Urban Studies and Management graduate program is to contribute to the local administration activities by providing high level knowledge and expertise about urban sciences and management and urban transformation to individuals graduated from the relevant undergraduate departments of universities and high technology institutes for four years and scientific and technical thesis and project studies. With this program also; It is also aimed to contribute to the improvement of capacity in city administration and local government studies, to individuals who want to make a career in advanced technology applications and innovative methods. The program will focus on strategic planning, urban and regional planning, natural building and urban inventory management, urban transformation, cultural heritage and management, sustainable planning and ecological design, disaster and emergency management, transportation planning and management, urban economy and management, environmental technologies and management , Preparation and participation in EU projects, R

Degree and Level Awarded

This program is subject to the first stage degree system of 240 ECTS credits.

When the program is completed successfully and the program qualifications are met, a master's degree in Urban Studies and Management is obtained.

Admission Requirements

-Mimarlık veya İnşaat Mühendisliği, İç mimarlık, Peyzaj Mimarlığı, Şehir ve Bölge Planlama veya Endüstri Ürünleri Tasarımcılığı lisans mezunu olmak,

-ALES'ten (SAY-puan türünden) en az 55 puan,

-Bu programın dersleri İstanbul Sabahattin Zaim Üniversitesi Halkalı kampüsünde verilmektedir.

Graduation Requirements

On the condition of successfully completing the courses, having a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 and above and being successful in the thesis exam; The student who submits two copies of the bound thesis to the institute within one month at the latest from the date of entry to the thesis exam and whose thesis is found suitable in terms of form, is awarded a master's degree with thesis.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning

Formal and non-formal learning, including training existing accepted procedures, the development is still at the beginning stages in Turkey and comprehensive at the national level on this issue and there is also an adequate legal framework. However, within the framework of institutional autonomy, there are also a number of institutional level practices for the assignment of loans that allow exemption from certain program requirements based on RPL. In these studies, which are applied especially at a comprehensive level, students who have knowledge and skills in areas such as foreign language and computer use before entering the university are subjected to an exam and students who are successful at a certain level by the program they are accepted are considered exempt from the relevant parts of the curriculum. However, RPL is also applied to students, including abroad, who wish to transfer to another institution that is equal to or above their field of study. In such cases, students may be exempted from courses that are the same or similar to the courses they have taken and passed, based on the approval of the program's orientation board.

Similar admission procedures are used extensively at our university. Regulations regarding the general admission conditions regarding such applications are outlined in the relevant sections of our Education and Exam Regulations, Regulations and Regulations Regarding Graduate Programs and Undergraduate Transfer Students.

Employment Opportunities

It is aimed that the graduates of the program will work in high positions by obtaining a master's degree in their field or continue their academic education in their field or in the Urbanism and Urban Transformation Doctorate Program.

Access to Further Studies

Students who graduate from this program can apply to study in Doctoral programs.
