FAMILY COUNSELING AND EDUCATION - THESIS

About the Program

-It consists of seven courses (3 hours per week), graduate seminar, and thesis study (120 ECTS total). The normal duration of this program is 4 semesters; the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

- Students, who completed course phase, submit a thesis proposal with the thesis form to the Institute, before starting their theses. After their proposals approved by the Institute, they can start their theses.

- Students enrolled in thesis master programs in the Institute of Social Sciences must fulfill the following conditions before their graduation.

The student who is enrolled in a graduate program must fulfill at least one of the following conditions in order to graduate.

  1. Two papers presented at national or international scientific meetings,
  2. An article published in a peer-reviewed/ indexed journal, accepted for publication, or received a DOI number,
  3. Two papers presented at Social / Science symposiums organized by IZU.
Program Learning Outcomes

KNOWLEDGE

  1. To be able to identify and explain situations that disrupt family functions (psychological problems, violence, abuse, neglect, communication problems, etc.)
  2. Transfer family knowledge and experiences to families or professionals
  3. Be able to evaluate the problems of the individual and the family in terms of developmental point of view
  4. To follow relevant literature and researches, to be able to evaluate their results and to benefit from this information in their own applications
  5. To have the ethical responsibility consciousness required by family counseling

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements and Important Information:

Family Counseling and Education (ADE)master's program with and without thesis does not promise any job to its graduates. The employment of graduates of these departments depends on the decisions taken by the relevant institutions.
Graduates of theology, Islamic sciences, psychology, psychological counseling and guidance departments of the related faculties can apply to the Spiritual Counseling and Guidance Master's program.
Foreign language requirement is not required for applying to the Master's program with and without thesis in Spiritual Counseling and Guidance (MDR).
In Family Counseling and Education (ADE)graduate programs with and without thesis, a one-semester scientific preparation program will be applied.
In Family Counseling and Education (ADE)master's program with thesis, those who score 55 and above in ALES Equal Weight Score Type can apply.
ALES score is not required for applying to the Non-Thesis Master's Program in Spiritual Counseling and Guidance (ADE).
If there is an application above the determined quota for the Master of Family Counseling and Education (ADE)programs with and without thesis, students can be selected by conducting a science exam and oral interviews.
Students who will takeADE graduate preparatory courses will be able to take preparatory courses individually, and when necessary, they will be able to take these courses with undergraduate students when the number of classes is reached in line with the decision of the department.
ADE Master's courses will be scheduled on weekdays evenings and / or on Saturdays at the central campus in Halkalı. However, if there is sufficient demand, a class can be opened in Altunizade campus. In addition, daytime classes can be opened in both campuses, upon sufficient demand. The curriculum depends on the number of students each semester, the qualifications of the courses to be opened, etc. It may vary depending on the conditions.
Family Counseling and Education (ADE)graduate program with and without thesis operates within the Graduate Education Institute of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University and operates like other departments in line with the relevant regulations and directives. Graduation Requirements

It consists of seven twenty-one-hour courses, a graduate seminar and a thesis study. (Total 120 ECTS) The normal duration of completing this program is 4 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.
Compulsory scientific preparation is applied in our Master's Program.
Students who complete the course phase submit a thesis proposal to the Institute before starting their thesis. After their thesis proposals are accepted by the Institute, they are entitled to start their thesis.
Students enrolled in the Master's Programs must fulfill at least one of the following conditions before the thesis defense exam in order to graduate.
A paper presented at national or international scientific meetings,
An article published in a refereed / indexed journal, accepted for publication or with a DOI number,
A paper presented at the symposiums organized by IZU in the Social / Science fields.
The publication should be about the thesis subject of the student or a subject related to the department.
In publications, the approval of the thesis supervisor must be obtained.
Publications must have the name of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who can document that they have taken scientific preparation courses at undergraduate level before have the right to be exempted from the relevant courses.

Likewise, students who document the courses they have taken from the master's department of another university have the right to exemption.

Exemption decisions are made by the exemption commission determined by the department.
