SOCIAL WORK - DOCTORATE

About the Program

It consists of seven courses, seminar, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and dissertation study. (240 ECTS total) The normal duration of this program is 8 semesters and the maximum duration is 12 semesters.

a.In order for a student who is enrolled in a doctoral program to graduate, at least one of the following conditions must be fulfilled.

  1. Two papers presented at national or international scientific meetings,
  2. An article published in a peer-reviewed/ indexed journal, accepted for publication, or received a DOI number,
  3. Two papers presented at Social / Science symposiums organized by IZU.
Program Objectives & Goals

Objectives

  1. The Social Work Doctorate Program aims to train social work science doctors who are in compliance with the universal principles of science and international professional rules and who will make significant contributions to the field of social work in Turkey, especially to social work education and scientific research.
  2. Social Work Doctorate Program arranges academic staff and course curriculum to support applied and theoretical education with a critical perspective, as well as understanding all kinds of clinical and macro theories from micro to macro. Our social work program aims to assimilate the knowledge, skills and values ​​necessary for the solution of social and individual problems by keeping the theory and practice infrastructure strong. In addition to the lessons, old age, disability, children, women, refugees etc. By organizing seminars and workshops on many social work-related topics, it constantly tries to increase the basic knowledge and skills of students in every subject.

Admission Requirements

- To be graduated from Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Gerontology, Anthropology and/or master's with thesis.
- Getting at least 55 points from ALES (SÖZ-EA-SAY score types),

- From YDS or YÖKDİL- International / foreign candidates are required to obtain TÖMER C1 certificate from Turkish Education Centers of universities, since the program language is Turkish. to get at least 55 points or an equivalent score from foreign language exams accepted as equivalent by ÖSYM.

- Graduates of the Non-Thesis Master's Program cannot apply to the doctoral program. However, students who registered or graduated from non-thesis master's programs before 06/02/2013 can apply to the doctoral program.

- International / foreign candidates are required to obtain TÖMER C1 certificate from Turkish Education Centers of universities, since the program language is Turkish.

- The courses of this program are given at the Halkalı campus of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.

Graduation Requirements
Provided that you successfully complete the courses and seminars, have a weighted grade point average of 3.0 and above, and be successful in the thesis exam; The student who submits at least two copies of the bound thesis to the institute within one month at the latest from the date of taking the thesis exam and whose thesis is found suitable in terms of form is entitled to receive a doctoral diploma.
