SOCIAL WORK - THESIS

About the Program

-It consists of seven courses (3 hours per week), graduate seminar, and thesis study (120 ECTS total). The normal duration of this program is 4 semesters; the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

- Students, who completed course phase, submit a thesis proposal with the thesis form to the Institute, before starting their theses. After their proposals approved by the Institute, they can start their theses.

- Students enrolled in thesis master programs in the Institute of Social Sciences must fulfill the following conditions before their graduation.

The student who is enrolled in a graduate program must fulfill at least one of the following conditions in order to graduate.

  1. Two papers presented at national or international scientific meetings,
  2. An article published in a peer-reviewed/ indexed journal, accepted for publication, or received a DOI number,
  3. Two papers presented at Social / Science symposiums organized by IZU.
Program Objectives & Goals

Objectives

  1. It is aimed to meet the need of qualified social workers who have sufficient knowledge and skills in the field of social work needed by the country, and who can communicate effectively with the people and institutions they work with, and to prepare the infrastructure for the training of academics needed by the newly opened social work programs.
  2. The aim of the Social Work Master's Program is to enable students to be educated more deeply in one of the fields of family, child and youth and health, to develop their research and evaluation skills to produce new information, and to reach a level that can contribute to scientific development in the field of social work.

Admission Requirements

- Graduate of Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Gerontology, Anthropology.
- Getting at least 55 points from ALES (SÖZ-SAY-EA),

- Foreign language score requirement is not required.

- International / foreign candidates are required to obtain TÖMER C1 certificate from Turkish Education Centers of universities, since the program language is Turkish.

- The courses of this program are given at the Halkalı campus of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.

Graduation Requirements
For graduation, it is necessary to successfully complete seven twenty-one-hour lectures, a graduate seminar and thesis.
