ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT - THESIS

About the Program

Engineering Management is concerned with acquiring the necessary skills to organize, plan, manage and control the people involved in the design, manufacture, construction, operation or maintenance of a product, device, structure or machine to achieve desired objectives.

It consists of seven twenty-one-hour courses, a graduate seminar and a thesis. (Total 120 ECTS) The normal duration of completing this program is 4 semesters, and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

-Students who have completed the course phase present a thesis proposal to the Graduate School, together with the thesis form, before starting their thesis. After the thesis proposals are accepted by the Institute, they are entitled to start their thesis.

-Students enrolled in Master's Programs must fulfill at least one of the following conditions before the thesis defense exam in order to graduate.

1. Two papers presented at national or international scientific meetings,
2. An article published in a peer-reviewed/indexed journal, accepted for publication or with a DOI number,
3. Two papers presented at the symposiums to be organized by IZU in the fields of Social/Science.
- The publication must be about the student's thesis topic or a subject related to the department.
- The approval of the thesis advisor must be obtained for publications.
- The name of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University must be in the publications.

Program Objectives & Goals

Objectives

  1. It aims to gain knowledge, skills, and competencies for design, analysis, planning, process improvement, and control techniques with a system perspective for the solution of engineering problems in the production and service sectors to university graduates (engineering faculty and other related department graduates) who have at least a bachelor's degree.
  2. It is a training program that takes into account the environment, quality, and ethical values and aims to teach the necessary approaches and methods for the design, production, management, and continuous improvement of systems based on human, machine, money, time, information, and energy in order for organizations to achieve their ultimate goals.

Admission Requirements

- Must have a bachelor's degree in -Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Statistics and Computer Sciences, Aviation Electrics and Electronics, Space Sciences and Technologies, Computer-Informatics, Information Systems and Technologies, Management Information Systems and Business and Management Sciences,

- At least 60 points from ALES (SAY-score type),

-The courses of this program are given at the Halkalı campus of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.

Graduation Requirements

It consists of 8 courses of 23 hours and a master's thesis (total 120 ECTS). The minimum number of credits required to graduate from the master's program with a thesis is 23. Except for the Master's Thesis course, each compulsory and elective course is three credits. To complete the program, the student must complete at least 4 compulsory courses and 4 elective courses. To complete the program, 23 credits and a non-credit master's thesis must be successfully completed. Elective courses, excluding at least 11 credits of compulsory courses, can be chosen among the elective courses to be offered during the semester.

At the end of four semesters, a student who successfully completes 23 credits and the Master's Thesis can graduate.

Recognition of Prior Learning

 A student who has completed at least one semester in a graduate program at the university or another higher education institution can be admitted to the University's graduate programs through undergraduate transfer within the framework of the relevant legislation and the principles determined by the institute board of directors.

 The principles regarding the transfer between thesis and non-thesis graduate programs are determined by the institute board of directors.

Employment Opportunities

Engineering Management graduates have many job opportunities in both the public and private sectors. Graduates in the public and private sector; They can work in management, expertise and other positions in fields such as management, human resources management, marketing, production, accounting, finance in organizations in the engineering fields, real and financial sectors, as well as gaining entrepreneurial qualifications by establishing their own businesses. In addition, graduates can start their academic career by getting a doctorate education.

Access to Further Studies

The students graduating from this program may apply to PhD programme.
