ADAPTATION PRINCIPLES TO BE APPLIED STARTING FROM THE 2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEAR

Merging of courses

ARTICLE 1 - (1) A student who passed (AA-BA-BB-CB-CC-DC-DD) the merged old courses is not responsible for the new course. The old courses are shown on the student's transcript with their letter grades.

(2) A student who passed one of the merged old courses but failed the other (ÇK, DZ, FF, FD, GM, YZ) or never took it;

a) Is not responsible for the failed old course or the merged new course,

b) Is exempted from the new course with the letter grade of the course they passed; since each of the merged old courses is defined as equivalent to the new course, the merged courses function as retaken courses on the transcript.

(3) A student who failed the pre-merger courses or never took them must take the new merged course.

(4) A student who passed the merged old courses may take the new course to raise their grade; in this case, each of the pre-merger courses functions as a retaken course on the transcript, and the transcript shows the last grade obtained in the new course.

Removal of a course

ARTICLE 2 - (1) The letter grade of a student who passed the course is shown on the transcript and included in the GPA.

(2) A student who failed the course or never took it is not responsible for it. However, a student who failed the course may, if they wish, request to use their graduation exam right for this course.

(3) To raise their grade, the student may take courses from the new curriculum in place of the removed course, in an amount sufficient to meet the ECTS value. In this case, the transcript shows the last grade obtained..

Placing a new course in place of a removed course

ARTICLE 3 - (1) A student who passed the removed course is not responsible for the new course placed in its stead. However, the student may take the new course to raise their grade if they wish.

(2) A student who failed the removed course or never took it is responsible for the new course.

Addition of a new course

ARTICLE 4 - (1) The student is responsible for new courses added to their current semester and to subsequent semesters.

Moving a course to a higher semester

ARTICLE 5 - (1) A student who passed the course is not responsible for the course moved to a higher semester; however, the student may take this course to raise their grade if they wish.

(2) A student who failed the course or never took it is responsible for that course. The grade of a failing student from the semester in which they took the course is removed from their transcript.

Moving a course to a lower semester

ARTICLE 6 - (1) A student who passed the course may take it again in its new place in the curriculum in order to raise their grade.

(2) A student who failed the course or never took it is responsible for the course.

A mandatory course becoming an elective

ARTICLE 7 - (1) A student who passed the course may not take the same course again as an elective, nor may it be counted in place of an elective course.

(2) A student who failed the course or never took it is not responsible for the course.

An elective course becoming mandatory

ARTICLE 8 - (1) A student who passed the course is not responsible for the new course.

(2) A student who failed the course must take another elective course.

Change of a course's code, name, and ECTS value

ARTICLE 9 - (1) A student who passed the course may take the renamed course in order to raise their grade.

(2) A student who failed the course or never took it is responsible for the renamed course.

Splitting of a course

ARTICLE 10 - (1) A student who passed the course cannot be held responsible for its split version. The student may not take one of the split courses to raise their grade.

(2) A student who failed the course or never took it is responsible for its split version.

ARTICLE 11 - (1) A student who cannot meet the 240 ECTS requirement for graduation due to a curriculum change is assigned elective courses from the new curriculum sufficient to meet the ECTS value.

ARTICLE 12 - (1) In situations that may arise outside the matters specified above, requests shall be decided by the University Senate and/or the University Administrative Board.
