Course Objective
The aim is to teach students the basic concepts, structure and functioning of information systems used in healthcare institutions. Students will evaluate information management processes through topics such as health informatics, electronic health records, clinical and administrative information systems, decision support systems, e-health applications and digital hospital models. Additionally, the course will address data security, privacy, ethical principles, and legal regulations in healthcare, aiming to provide students with a comprehensive perspective on the effective and reliable management of information systems in healthcare institutions.
Course Content
The course covers the basic concepts of health informatics, types of health information systems, their components, and design processes. Current approaches such as electronic health records, clinical information systems, e-health, and mobile health applications are examined with examples, while data quality, interoperability, security, and ethical dimensions are emphasized. Additionally, examples of health informatics applications from Turkey and around the world are evaluated to enable students to analyze their theoretical knowledge in a practical context.
