Course Objective

To help students learn the notion of city, the roots of city, the processes of urbanization and the social results of urbanization.

Course Content

The arise of the notion of city and cities, Islamic city in the historical process and Turkish city system, the coming of age of modern city and the social changes that occur accordingly and the social and physical progress of urbanism in Turkey.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. General information about the city, urbanization and urbanization.
  2. To be able to evaluate the relations between industrialization and urbanization.
  3. Have a deeper knowledge about urban planning, slums, land and housing.
  4. Gets general information about natural disasters and acquires important information at the point of struggle.
