HEM 334 - Spiritual Care in Nursing

Spiritual Care in Nursing course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of spiritual care and support services by seeing the human being as a whole with body and soul dimensions in health services and planning the treatment and healing processes with a holistic understanding; It aims to support students' professional field application skills and to provide them with multifaceted personal development awareness.

Human, health, nursing, meaning, spirituality, religion and belief, etc. concepts; Spiritual Dimension of Man, man and his need for meaning, the impact of finding personal meaning on physical and spiritual health; Reasons for the need for spiritual care. The needs of patients and their relatives within the framework of spiritual care; Spiritual needs of hospital staff (nurses); The function of spirituality in mental health, Life-Death, Health-Illness and Spiritual Collapse- A View of Spiritual Well-Being from the Perspective of Spiritual Development (evolution). Spiritual Counseling and Spiritual Care in the Health System, Spiritually Oriented Psychological Counseling, Religious Counseling; Holistic Approach in Spiritual Care and 12 characteristics of a Successful Nurse. Patients' and their relatives' need for meaning; Positive Thought and Religious (Islamic) codes in Spiritual Care. Definition of Spiritual Care; Planning Spiritual Care. Spiritual care processes and steps. General principles in spiritual care. Factors affecting spiritual care. Risks and challenges in spiritual care practices; It includes sample practices in Spiritual Care in Nursing.

SPIRITUAL CARE APPLICATION PROJECT PROCESS IN NURSING

I. Decide the patient(s) you will care for and plan the process in outline. (p.154 ff.)

II. Evaluate the spiritual dimension of the patient (relative) with spiritual screening. (p.127 ff.)

III. Take the patient's (relative's) demographic information and spiritual anamnesis. (p.129 ff.)

IV. Ask what kind of moral support the patient (relative) needs and make a note of it.

V. Determine by discussing and observing how you should provide moral support to the patient (relative). =diagnose != (p. 244, 259, 329, 380, 412 etc.)

VI. Based on a diagnosis you have made, carry out the application steps (possible activities) in the light of "Pearl Information".

VII. Report the process and results. (your observations, your own and the patient's self-assessment)

VIII. Compile the entire project process into a written file and present it in class.

Make corrections as a result of the discussions in the IXth Grade environment and submit your project.
