Course Objective

  1. To train engineers who have adopted the necessity of using developing production planning techniques and can adapt to this.
  2. To provide the ability to plan production in order to achieve economic production.
  3. To train engineers who can make conscious applications about stock management.

Rules

  • A minimum of 70% class attendance is mandatory. No excuses will be accepted from the student who is absent from class.
  • Grading will be based on midterm exam, final exam and projects/assignments, if given.
  • There will be no excuses for visa, project/assignment and final exams for any reason other than official reports received from an authorized institution.
  • Each student must do his/her own individual homework, if assigned. In cases where copied or quoted assignments are detected, the student will be given a grade of zero and disciplinary punishment will be applied to the relevant student.
  • It is the students' responsibility to follow the announcements, print out course notes and obtain all elements of the course content.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. I. Classify production systems, know the basic concepts of production, and their management (PLO 3).
  2. II. Forecast future demands by considering past demands ( PLO 1, 2, 5).
  3. III. Make process design and purchasing or production decisions ( PLO 1, 2, 3).
  4. IV. Perform capacity planning and selection ( PLO 2, 3).
  5. V. Design a layout using the straight-line sequence flow method ( PLO 2, 3).
  6. VI. Perform production planning and scheduling ( PLO 2, 3).
  7. VII. Perform job sequencing and production scheduling ( PLO 2, 3).
  8. VIII. Know cell type manufacturing and creation methods, and create manufacturing cells ( PLO 1, 2, 3, 4).
  9. IX. Know inventory management calculation methods and apply them in the field ( PLO 1, 2, 3, 4).
