Course Objective
This course examines the dynamic relationship between the English language and the mass media, with a particular focus on cinema. We will explore how language shapes and is shaped by various media forms, analyzing its role in storytelling, persuasion, representation, and cultural exchange. Through close readings of films, scripts, news articles, advertisements, and other media texts, students will develop critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills while expanding their understanding of how language functions in our media-saturated world.
Course Content
Course Objectives:
- Develop strong written communication skills for various media platforms, including news articles, press releases, blog posts, and social media content.
- Enhance verbal communication skills through effective public speaking, interviewing techniques, and on-camera presence.
- Foster critical thinking and analytical skills for the evaluation of media messages and content.
- Understand the role of language and communication in shaping public opinion, perception, and media ethics.
- Gain proficiency in media-related vocabulary and terminology.
- Learn to adapt language and communication style to different media formats and target audiences.
- Explore the impact of digital media on language use and communication in the context of Mass Communication.
- Develop collaborative and teamwork skills for effective communication in a media environment.
