English Language Teaching
The Department of English Language Teaching is a four-year, 240-ECTS undergraduate programme in English Language Education with a normal duration of 8 semesters. As in the other undergraduate departments of our University, 1 ECTS in the English Language Teaching undergraduate programme corresponds to a student workload of 30 (hours/semester).
The aim of the Department of English Language Teaching is to train English teachers and scholars who are committed to the principles of contemporary education, have scientific and critical thinking skills, can keep up with technological change and follow contemporary developments in their field.
The main goal of our department is to train qualified teachers and researchers equipped with advanced knowledge who, in the light of contemporary methods and views developed in English Language Education, can contribute to solving our country's English teaching problems and play an active role in teaching this language.
Those who successfully complete the Department of English Language Teaching undergraduate programme can work as English Teachers in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and in private educational institutions.
Opportunities Offered to Students:
Opportunity to learn foreign languages (free of charge),
Opportunity to do a minor (with a scholarship for the normal period of study plus one additional year),
Opportunity to do a double major (with a scholarship for the normal period of study plus one additional year),
Opportunity to study abroad through international exchange programmes (1 or 2 semesters),
Opportunity to continue with master's programmes after graduation.
Career Opportunities:
Graduates of the English Language Teaching undergraduate programme are entitled to teach in schools at all levels affiliated with the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey. They can also easily find jobs in private educational institutions or organizations that require a foreign language (English). They also have opportunities to pursue master's and doctoral studies in various fields and take part in research projects.
