Course Objective

At the end of this course students will be able to understand and use basic phrases and common everyday expressions related to concrete topics. Students will be able to communicate (conversation, listening, writing and reading) in Spanish in a limited and simple way using basic expressions.

Course Content

The topics that will be covered in this course are: greetings and introductions, likes and dislikes, traveling, shopping, and everyday habits. Vocabulary: alphabet, numbers, professions, nationalities and languages, adjectives, family, shopping, traveling, clothes, colors, body, adverbs of frequency. Grammar: number and gender of nouns and adjectives, article, conjugation of regular and irregular verbs, simple present, personal pronouns, possessive pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, direct and indirect object pronouns.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will be able to write small compositions using basic vocabulary and sentence structure. Also they will be able to read and understand basic level texts.
  2. Students will be able to use everyday expressions and basic phrases for greeting, obtaining and giving information, expressing habits and likes.
  3. Students will be able to understand and produce dialogues using simple vocabulary for expressing everyday situations of concrete topics such as: greetings, basic information, likes and preferences and habits.
