OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY - THESIS

About the Program

-It consists of seven courses (3 hours per week), graduate seminar, and thesis study (120 ECTS total). The normal duration of this program is 4 semesters; the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

- Students, who completed course phase, submit a thesis proposal with the thesis form to the Institute, before starting their theses. After their proposals approved by the Institute, they can start their theses.

  1. The aim of the program is to enable graduate students gain necessary skills and knowledge required to conduct occupational health and safety program efficiently in their own fields of study and to carry out investigations on this subject.

  1. Accessing deep and advanced knowledge through scientific researches in the field of Occupational safety and health, ability to evaluate, interprete and implement the knowledge.
  2. Having comprehensive knowledge about actual techniques and methods in engineering as well as their constraints.
  3. Awareness of new and developing Occupational safety and health practices, ability to investigate and learn them as needed.
  4. Ability to define and formulate problems related to Occupational safety and health and skills for developing methods to solve the problems and using innovative methods during solutions.

Degree and Level Awarded

Master's Graduates are directly entitled to take the "B" class exam within the Specialization Exams opened by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

(**With the conditions and departments required by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security for Undergraduate Graduation)

They will have a master's degree.

Admission Requirements

-All Engineering Faculties, Architects, Technical Education Graduates, Physics, Chemistry or Biology graduates from the Faculties of Arts and Sciences and have a C, B, or A Class OHS Specialization certificate from the MoLSS, (Applications are not accepted outside of these programs.)

-To get at least 55 points from ALES (SAY-point type),

-The courses of this program are given at the Halkalı Campus of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. In case of a sufficient number of applications, courses can also be given at the Altunizade campus.

Graduation Requirements

It consists of 8 courses of 23 hours and a master's thesis (total 120 ECTS). The minimum number of credits required to graduate from the master's program with a thesis is 23. Except for the Master's Thesis course, each compulsory and elective course is three credits. To complete the program, the student must complete at least 4 compulsory courses and 4 elective courses. To complete the program, 23 credits and a non-credit master's thesis must be successfully completed. Elective courses, excluding at least 11 credits of compulsory courses, can be chosen among the elective courses to be offered during the semester.

At the end of four semesters, a student who successfully completes 23 credits and the Master's Thesis can graduate.

Recognition of Prior Learning

 A student who has completed at least one semester in a graduate program at the university or another higher education institution can be admitted to the University's graduate programs through undergraduate transfer within the framework of the relevant legislation and the principles determined by the institute board of directors.

 The principles regarding the transfer between thesis and non-thesis graduate programs are determined by the institute board of directors.

Employment Opportunities

Students who graduate from this program, Occupational Safety Specialists' Duties, Authorities, Responsibilities and Training in accordance with the Regulation, undergraduate graduates of the T.R. They are entitled to directly enter the Occupational Safety Specialist "Class B" certification exam opened by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
