About the Program
Non-thesis master's program in Political Science and International Relations has been operating since 2013-2014 academic year. The language of the program is Turkish. It consists of ten courses (3 hours per week) and master's project work (Total 90 ECTS). The normal duration of this program is 2 semesters, the maximum duration is 3 semesters.
Program Objectives & Goals
Objectives
- The Department of Political Science and International Relations aims to enable its students to follow, understand, question and analyze political, economic, social, cultural, philosophical and security-related issues by considering the developments at local, national, regional and global levels in a changing world.
- Program aims to provide its students with abilities to think outside the box by using contemporary as well as traditional theories and methodologies while reading the dynamism of change in the world.
- Program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to analyze the interaction dynamics of both actors within national and global boundaries.
- The aim of this program is to analyze how sub-national, national and global level interactions develops; to examine different kinds of actors' decision-making mechanisms and to investigate under which conditions war and peace emerge.
- Program aims to provide the ability of making comparative analysis of different regions in the world.
- Program aims to provide specialists to the country who are responsive to the country's political and social issues, who can take responsibility for these issues, by embracing the ethical values; and to provide skills to be qualified for developing policy proposals based on scientific knowledge.
- Program aims to educate students to have information about how to access the academic sources and how to use them in the analyses, as well as to encourage them to conduct scientific studies.

Admission Requirements
- Having a bachelor's degree from the fields of Political Science and International Relations, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Political Science and Public Administration, International Relations, or Public Administration.
- ALES and Foreign language score requirements are not required,
- International/Foreign candidates are required to obtain TÖMER C1 certificate from Turkish Education Centers of Universities, since the language of the program is Turkish.
- The courses of this program are given at the Halkalı campus of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.
Graduation Requirements
Program consists of ten courses of thirty hours and graduate project work (Total 90 ECTS). The normal duration of completing this program is 2 semesters and the maximum duration is 3 semesters.
Students who successfully complete their credit courses and term project and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 and above are awarded a master's degree without thesis.
The rules written in "IZU Graduate Education and Examination Regulations - Article 16" are applied in the graduation processes for non-thesis master's program.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Graduates who meet the admission requirements to the Master of Political Science and International Relations with Non-Thesis Program and who are successful in the science exam are accepted to the program. With the recommendation of the exam jury and the approval of the head of the department, they enroll in the Non-Thesis Master Program of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Graduate Education Institute, Department of Political Science and International Relations.
Employment Opportunities
There are job opportunities for our graduates in the public and private sectors. In the public sector, graduates can find jobs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, European Union and International Relations departments. In addition, they can work in state institutions such as all ministries and undersecretariats, state economic enterprises, development agencies. Our graduates can work as a specialist-inspector, as well as in positions such as district governor and civil servant.
In the private sector, students have the opportunity to work in different departments of the companies thanks to the interdisciplinary training experiences they have received at the Institute. They can work in international organizations, non-governmental organizations, research centers, think-tanks, various mass communication organizations and international banks. They can also work as an academic staff by doing academic studies at universities.

Students enrolled in or graduated from non-thesis master's programs before 6/2/2013 can apply for doctoral programs.
