Course Objective

Along with the change and transformation experienced in the world, the cultural structure of the society and the social structures, institutions, and relations of these institutions with each other, which the behavioral patterns change over time, are also differentiated. There is no doubt that these changes emerge under the influence of various factors. At this point, these changes will be examined at various angles, taking into account the contribution of social services.

Course Content

What is the role of social service in social change? What are the thoughts, practices and modalities of social work in this area such as migration, women, children, youth, disability, old age and similar areas? How do they affect social change? All these issues will be addressed in the context of social change.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Contemporary social work paradigms will be learned in term of social change.
  2. At what point social service is involved in social change. This includes migration, disability, family structure, old age, substance use, children, what kind of role is being played in these issues.
  3. The concepts of social change will be learned.
  4. The pace of social change is occurring at different levels in societies. In this context, social service will be able to perceive these changes in a timely manner and develop a viewpoint of development of appropriate service models and strategies.
