Course Objective
The aim of this course is to develop critical thinking and expertise in this field by examining at an advanced level the diagnostic criteria (DSM-5-TR), etiology (neurobiological, psychological, and sociocultural foundations), clinical assessment methods, and evidence-based intervention strategies for behavioral disorders.
Course Content
The content of this course includes the historical and conceptual foundations of behavioral disorders, their classification and differential diagnosis according to DSM-5, neurobiological, genetic, and environmental etiological factors, clinical assessment and formulation in child, adolescent, and adult populations, and evidence-based psychotherapeutic intervention approaches.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Knows the diagnostic criteria for behavioral and emotional disorders listed in the DSM-5-TR
- Could critically evaluate the neurobiological, genetic, psychological, familial, and sociocultural risk factors that play a role in the onset and maintenance of behavioral disorders and interprets their interactions with each other.
- Could critically examine current scientific research conducted in the field of behavioral disorders, evaluates it from a methodological perspective, and discusses how its findings can be integrated into clinical practice.
- Knows the basic principles and techniques of evidence-based psychotherapy approaches used in the treatment of behavioral disorders.
