Course Objective

Basic counseling principles and techniques will be discussed in this course. This course will be taught theoretically and through sample application examples.

Introduction, Course Introduction and Planning Psychological counseling Overview of 12 Focus and Counseling Principles and Techniques in Counseling Psychological Counseling Steps and Skills Therapeutic Skills and Conditions Establishing the First Relationship and Communication with the Client Assessing Client Problems and Creating Goals Determining the Strategy and Choosing an Intervention Professional Behavior, Ethical and Cultural Approach in Counseling Interventions Related to Emotions Cognitive Interventions Midterm Behavioral Interventions Systemic Interventions Postmodern Interventions Use of Counseling Skills in Other Counseling Practices Self Awareness and Respect for Differences in Counseling Termination and Tracking Final examination

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. To know the basic concepts and principles of psychological counseling
  2. Gaining the ability to initiate the psychological counseling process and create goals
  3. Knowing and applying the basic skills used in the counseling process in order to establish an effective communication between the counselor and the client
  4. To know the interventions used to end the psychological counseling process
