Course Objective

The purpose of this module is to teach students basics principles of Arabic and Persian in order to enable them to read texts written in Ottoman Turkish 

Course Content

Principles of Arabic, (vezin, adjectives, prepositions, quality and quantity, masculin and feminine) and principles of Persian language

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will learn the meaning of Arabic words that are in use particularly in legal texts
  2. Students will have the ability to use the language effectively and accurately
  3. Students will be able to read texts written in Ottoman Turkish
  4. Students will be able to understand the meanings of the Arabic and Persian words used in Otttoman Turkish
  5. Students shall have the ability to read texts written in Nesih and Rika scripts
