ISF 402 - Philosophy of Religion-II

Course Objective

To inform the students and discuss with them some implications of believing in a transendental deity and the nature of faith; the relations between faith and knowledge, philosophical foundations of having faith, Atheism and the teachings of Pantheism, Panentheism,and agnostisism, and the relations between religion and ethics, religion and science, religion and art, religious plurality and to make them gain a philosophical perspective concerning religious topics and problems.

Course Content

Focusing on theistic religions, the main features of theism, some philosophical understandinhg of God; A-Theism, Pantheismi, panentheismi, miracles and divine grace etc. The relation between religion and science, ethics and art.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Knows the basic concepts of religion philosophy.Discuss the problems that interest the philosophy of religion.He knows and can use and comment on the classical and contemporary approaches to make philosophy of religion.
  2. Students gain a perspective concerning the nature of religion and theology. And obtain some information to understand and discuss theistik religions from philosophical, theological, sociological and psicological perspectives.
