Course Objective

To define concepts such as the definition and importance of language, the language-culture relationship, the communicative function of language, the importance of language in terms of thought, the birth of languages, grammar, sub-sections of grammar, phonetics, phonetics, phoneme, sound, syllable, stress, intonation, plural, melody; to have students do exercises on the sound features of the Turkish language (vowels, consonants), sound order (vowel and consonant harmony), the phonetic features of Turkey Turkish, sound changes and sound events.

 

 

Course Content

Phonetic features of Turkey Turkish; sounds (vowels and consonants), features of vowels and consonants; sound harmony (vowel harmony, consonant harmony); sound (vowel and consonant) changes (narrowing, rounding, assimilation, separation, derivation, dropping, voiced, voiceless, fusion, vowel conflict, gemination), fusion consonants, connecting vowel; syllable; spelling information, the importance and necessity of spelling; showing sound changes in writing; spelling of syllables, writing words by dividing them into syllables at the end of lines; spelling practices.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Defines the grammar and linguistics and its sub-areas.
  2. Makes analysis of phonetics in the texts.
  3. Analyses the sound, vowel, consonant, sound changes.
  4. Defines and illustrates the syllable.
  5. By learning the phonetics and phonology of Turkish language, one can deeply understand their native tongue and can use science and knowledge better to their benefits with their great command in language.
  6. Applies phonological analyses (sounds, vowels, consonants and ect.) in Turkish texts.
  7. The student compares and contrasts the differences between Turkish and world languages in terms of phonological processes. The student learns topics such as stress and intonation in detail.
