Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop case-based thinking, nutrition therapy planning, and clinical decision-making skills in the context of diseases commonly seen in adult individuals. Students present, in a classroom setting, case scenarios they have developed supported by current literature, analyzing and interpreting the medical nutrition therapy process on a scientifically grounded basis while reinforcing their professional communication skills. Through these presentations, students are expected to develop their problem-solving, clinical reasoning, ethical sensitivity, and team collaboration competencies.

Course Content

This course involves addressing medical nutrition therapy in commonly encountered diseases in adult individuals through a case-based learning approach. Students evaluate nutrition therapy—supported by scientific literature—in disease groups such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, renal failure, gastrointestinal disorders, oncological conditions, and obesity. Through presentations prepared by students on clinical cases selected each week, processes of individualized diet plan development, interpretation of laboratory and clinical data, decision-making, and ethical evaluation are structured. Throughout this process, students' communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills are supported.
