Course Objective

The aim is to develop students’ ability to follow current scientific developments in the field of nutrition and dietetics, critically evaluate scientific sources, and systematically compile and orally present scientific information on a specific topic.

Course Content

Scientific research and access to scientific information, literature review methods, the use of scientific databases, evaluation of scientific articles, examination of current topics in nutrition and dietetics, principles of preparing scientific presentations, visual and oral presentation techniques, scientific ethics and academic referencing, preparation and delivery of seminars.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Presents the prepared scientific seminar using effective oral communication and presentation techniques and participates in scientific discussions.
  2. Accesses current scientific sources in the field of nutrition and dietetics and conducts literature reviews using appropriate databases.
  3. Evaluates the methods, findings, and conclusions of scientific articles and critically assesses the strength of scientific evidence.
  4. Analyzes, synthesizes, and systematically organizes scientific information related to a specific topic.
  5. Transforms a scientific topic into presentation material in accordance with the principles of academic writing and referencing.
