Course Objective
The aim of this course is to enable students to comprehend the fundamental concepts of public health and the philosophy of public health nursing, as well as to discuss the roles and responsibilities of nurses in this field. In addition, it is intended to enhance their knowledge and skills in protecting and promoting the health of individuals, families, and communities, and to meet their professional needs in the area. The course also aims to support students in developing the ability to collaborate with community institutions and to establish effective, accurate, and healthy communication.
Course Content
This course covers the fundamental roles and responsibilities of public health nurses in addressing the needs of different segments of society. It focuses on preventive and promotive health services, community health needs, environmental factors, and the functioning of the health system at the individual, family, and community levels. Additionally, within the framework of the organization of health services in Türkiye and epidemiological approaches, topics such as home care, family, school, occupational, environmental, and community mental health, as well as the health of disadvantaged groups, will be addressed with a holistic perspective.
