Course Objective

This course covers knowledge and practices related to the protection and improvement of the health of healthy/sick individuals, families, or communities, as well as early diagnosis, treatment, care, and rehabilitation processes within systems. The aim of this course is to train nurses who possess evidence-based theoretical knowledge and skills in internal medicine and nursing care applied in these diseases, along with critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills.

Course Content

This course aims to equip students with knowledge and practical skills in health promotion, protection, early diagnosis, treatment, care and rehabilitation of diseases, and patient and family education. The course covers nursing processes, fluid and electrolyte balance, acid-base balance and imbalances, systemic diseases and evidence-based nursing care, and symptom management topics and applications.

  1. It describes the pathophysiology, risk factors, etiology, signs, and symptoms of internal diseases
  2. Analyzes current information acquired in the field of internal medicine nursing, uses critical thinking skills, and applies them to new situations.
  3. Identifies the patient's needs in line with the nursing process, applies evidence-based nursing care, provides patient education, and evaluates the results.
  4. Nursing professionals utilize information and care technologies in their areas of activity (education, practice, research, and management)
  5. They work collaboratively with the healthcare team and other disciplines with a sense of professional responsibility; they act in accordance with legislation, professional values, and ethical principles
