Course Objective

1. To ensure that the basic concepts of microbial genetics are learned
2. To provide knowledge on the genome structure of prokaryotes and related sub-topics
3. To ensure that they are informed about current research in the field of microbial genetics.

Course Content

This course includes current research in genome in prokaryotes, extra-chromosomal genetic elements, bacterial genetics, genetic material transfer in bacteria, yeast genetics, virus genetics, mutations, resistance mechanisms to antimicrobial agents, communication mechanisms in bacteria, genomics, vaccines, genetic engineering and microbial genetics.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Will have knowledge about the basic concepts and molecular mechanisms in microbial genetics.
  2. Will learn about the genetics of bacteria, viruses and yeast.
  3. Understand the connection between microbial genetics and genetic engineering.
  4. Will be able to adapt microbial genetics to daily life.
  5. It will enable the connection between experimental logic, analytical thinking, quantitative analysis and problem solving.
