Course Objective

To provide a solid understanding of relational database management systems. Students will be able to perform analysis, design and implementation processes while making an improvement in relational database management system.

Course Content

Database processing, fundamentals of relational realization, query languages,Data Modeling, normalization, databases and Internet Technology, managing multi-user databases, using MS SQL.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. To understand the concept of database management system, its components and its importance in the IT world.
  2. To be able to design conceptual database (ER diagram) including constraints by analyzing a given job description.
  3. To be able to transform conceptual database design into logical table design.
  4. To be able to implement logical table design in a physical database environment (using SQL and using the tools of the database server).
  5. To be able to make necessary queries and other operations in business processes using SQL
  6. To be able to encode procedure/function and trigger using programming structures specific to SQL and database server system.
  7. To be able to use the necessary tools/media for setup, operating and accessing database servers.
  8. To be able to design and develop a database by working as a team for a specific job,
  9. Prepare the necessary documentation and presentation for the database project and make the presentation.
