Course Objective
To give information about the innovations seen in Turkish culture and literature after the declaration of 1839 Tanzimat Fermanı.
To interpret the reasons for the emergence of New Turkish Literature.
To introduce literary personalities and works that prepared new Turkish literature by comparing new Turkish literature with classical Turkish literature.
To teach Servet-i Fünun Literature and Fecr-i Ati Literature with the emergence-development-properties and ending reasons
Course Content
The content of this course includes introduction to the new Turkish literature; an overview of the Westernization movement; Turkish poetry in the first half of the 19th century; prose in the first half of the 19th century (change of language; works reflecting European impressions); people and organizations that raised the first generation of the new literature; M. Reşit Pasha, Kalemler etc.; parliament, reason, freedom etc.; genres that came to Turkish literature from the West: newspaper, novel and story, literary theory and criticism, theater, article etc.; characteristic features of the New Turkish Literature, Tanzania. parliament, reason, freedom, etc.; genres that came to Turkish literature from the West: newspaper, novel and story, literary theory and criticism, theater, article, etc.; Characteristic features of the New Turkish Literature, Tanzimat writers and poets, the emergence of Servet-i Fünun and Fecr-i Ati literature, its end and poets and writers.

Course Learning Outcomes
- Learns the periods of new Turkish literature.
- Recognizes the scientific concepts and sources of the new Turkish literature department. Learns and applies research and analysis methods. Identifies the effects of Tanzimat and the West on literary texts.
- The social, political and cultural issues that uncovered the new Turkish literature are embraced. Learns new Turkish literature in terms of writer, works and features.
- Interprets the reasons that prepare the emergence of New Turkish Literature. Learns the concepts and types that come with the new Turkish literature.
