Course Objective
The objective of this course is to provide an understanding of the fundamental concepts of art education, the developmental stages of children's drawings, and the principles of teaching artistic skills within the context of special education. It aims to help students gain competence in applying teaching techniques for basic artistic skills—such as pencil holding, drawing, playdough manipulation, painting, scissor use, printing, waste material crafting, and three-dimensional paper works—for individuals with special needs, by learning museum education approaches and methods for analyzing artworks. In addition, the course aims to enable students to create a product file (portfolio) by designing process-oriented materials suitable for special education environments.
Course Content
This course covers fundamental topics regarding art education, children's drawings, and the teaching of artistic skills. Museum education and methods for recognizing and analyzing artworks are explored. Within the scope of the course, practical skills for art teaching in special education are addressed, including pencil holding and drawing skills, playing with playdough, painting, scissor use, paper cutting, tearing, and pasting skills. Furthermore, printing works, waste material design projects, and three-dimensional paper works are covered, alongside application processes aimed at helping students prepare artistic skill teaching and material plan.

Explanations
Nature and Scope of the Assignment: Instead of a final exam, a comprehensive term assignment containing teaching plans and material designs in 10 different areas aimed at supporting the artistic skills of individuals with special needs will be prepared for this course.
Selected Skills: A total of 10 different artistic skills will be covered within the scope of the assignment, namely Pencil Holding, Drawing Skills, Playing with Playdough, Painting Skills, Scissor Use, Paper Cutting, Tearing and Pasting, Printing Works, Waste Material Design Projects, and Three-Dimensional Paper Works.
Diversity and Grading: It is mandatory to select a different type of disability (e.g., intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, visual impairment, etc.) and a different educational level (e.g., preschool, primary school, etc.) in each of the 10 prepared reports.
Program Basis: It will be clearly stated which official or national educational program (e.g., MoNE Special Education Programs) the long-term and short-term objectives included in the prepared teaching plans are taken from.
Adaptation and Material Variety: In each report, detailed visuals and explanations regarding adaptation materials suitable for the selected disability type and sample materials applied to their peers will be included.
Rules
Attendance Obligation: In accordance with university regulations, there is an attendance requirement for theoretical classes, and students are expected to follow the course processes regularly.
Originality and Plagiarism: It is mandatory that all assignments and reports are completely original, not copied from other sources, and prepared in compliance with academic ethical rules.
Timely Submission: The term-end assignment and report file must be submitted fully in accordance with the announced schedule and format.
Communication Channels: Announcements and notifications regarding the course will be made through official systems (Microsoft Teams-Email), and it is important for students to check their institutional emails regularly.
