Course Objective
In this course, it is aimed to show what kind of meanings are given to education in different societies and cultural contexts by going from a cultural comparative perspective.Course Content
The subject, basic concepts, history and method of anthropology; basic approaches in cultural anthropology; anthropological aspects of education and basic concepts of educational anthropology, Culture, culturing, culturing, adaptation, subculture, counterculture, co-culture, etc .; cultural foundations and functions of education, intercultural differentiation, education and learning; school as a habitat, school cultures and ethnographies; media, mass media, popular culture and education; globalization, cultural interaction, cultural literacy and education, Education in oral and written literary works in the history of Turkish culture and civilization; The roles of parents and children in Turkish family structure.
Course Learning Outcomes
- At the end of this course, students; Learn the basic concepts, subjects and methods of the field of Educational Anthropology.
- Students will be able to comprehend the similarities and differences in basic fields such as school, classroom, curriculum and teacher training by examining educational researches related to different cultures
- Evaluates the education, learning and learning processes in the cultural context through examples of Turkish education system as well as examples from different cultures
- Comprehends the relationship between education and anthropology.
