Course Objective
Teaching students the International Phonetic Alphabet and in this way allowing them to learn the correct pronunciations of the words that they mispronounce; teaching them the sounds in the English language; teaching them how to write and read phonetic texts; teaching them the meanings and correct pronunciations of the first 5000 most common words in the English language.
Course Content
The International Phonetic Alphabet; Sounds in the English language; writing and reading photetic texts; correcting the pronunciations of the mispronounced words; teaching the differences between American English and British English; watching videos dubbed in both American English and British English, and doing question-answer exercises from these videos.

Rules
Students who fail to meet attendance requirements are not allowed to take the exams.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Producing the words with their correct pronunciation
- Knowing and being able to discriminate the sounds in English
- Being able to make out the place and manner of articulation of the English sound
- Being able to discriminate the differences between the sounds in Turkish and English
- Being able to read and write in phonetic transcription
