Course Objective

The course of Writing Skills II is a continuation of Writing Skills I course in the sense that it reviews again the basic features of the paragraphs and compositions, as well as different varieties of writing (paragraph types, composition types, informal/formal writings); also, it aims at enabling students to plan an outline of composition writing, teaching how to write descriptive, persuasive, argumentative compositions, introduce elements for academic writing, yet this course also aims at taking students a step further in their affords of writing in that students will be able to analyse different types of writing by reading between the lines, look deeper into the links between sentences and paragraphs, estimate introduction and conclusion of different writing styles and eventually create a selection of writing assignments throughout the semester. Finally, this course encourages students to get involved in free writing for students where learners practice free writing in and outside of the class.

Course Content

  1. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to relate the elements for academic writing.
  2. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to analyse different types of writing by reading between the lines and look deeper into the links between sentences and paragraphs.
  3. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to demonstrate individually free writing activities
  4. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to recall the basic features of the paragraphs and compositions.
  5. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to select different varieties of writing such as paragraph types, composition types, and informal/formal writings.
  6. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to outline composition writing.
  7. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to explain descriptive, persuasive, argumentative compositions.
