Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide a general introduction to organizational leadership. The focus of this course is to build and expand the knowledge base in key areas of organizational leadership such as indicators of leadership effectiveness, overview of key research approaches, and levels of conceptualization of leadership theories. The course will provide students with insights into managerial characteristics and skills, the nature of managerial work, effective leadership behavior and participative leadership perspectives, delegation and authorization.

Course Content

Within the scope of this course, defining the concept of leadership, determining the managerial characteristics, different leadership theories and the evolutionary development of the concept of leadership will be covered.

  1. Explains the broader, multidisciplinary context of organizational leadership.
  2. Describes managerial characteristics and skills and the nature of managerial work.
  3. Evaluates effective leadership behavior within the framework of bilateral relationships.
  4. Analyzes the concepts of managerial power and authority and leadership styles.
