Course Objective
This course examines the intersection of politics and economics in the global system, providing an in-depth analysis of the development, structure, and operation of the international political economy (IPE).
Course Content
It explores the historical evolution of economic systems, globalization, trade regimes, and development challenges. Special focus is given to the WTO, neoliberal policies, and critical perspectives such as mercantilism, structuralism, and green theory. Students will critically assess globalization’s impacts, particularly its negative effects on less developed countries, and gain insight into sustainability, inequality, and the digital economy in the global economy.
