Course Objective

History of Economic Thought deals with thoughts of economists who developed economic theories concerning economic problems. The present science of Economics has been developed by many economic thinkers throughout human history. One objective of the course is to introduce a framework for the development of economic doctrines, their social and philosophical preconceptions, and their uses in economic development policies. The main of the course is to analyze economic theories and their origins.

Course Content

By this course the main world views which have shaped economic thoughts throughout human history will be analysed. The most important of economic thoughts of the famous economists, philosophers and thinkers will be explained in historical perspectives. The main economic solutions which were been developed by the member of the famous economic schools for the economic problems of their age will be evaluated and discussed their validity in our time.

  1. Listing the factors that prepared the foundation of economics, describing the environment
  2. Defining the concepts and processes that will enable the science of economics to be defined as political economy
  3. Defining the establishment concepts and processes of microeconomics
  4. Defining the establishment, concepts and processes of macroeconomics
  5. Describing economics schools in terms of their main approaches and listing their differences
