Exemption conditions, application procedures and principles
Students who enroll for the first time in undergraduate diploma programs that have a mandatory foreign language preparatory class, and who pass the foreign language proficiency exam held on the date announced in the academic calendar, are exempted from the mandatory foreign language preparatory class and continue directly with the undergraduate diploma program in which they are enrolled.
Students who obtain a score equivalent to Level “B2” of the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages,” as established by the ÖSYM Board of Directors, in national or international exams, are exempted from the mandatory Arabic preparatory class and continue directly with the undergraduate diploma program in which they are enrolled, by submitting the originals of these documents to the Directorate of Student Affairs within the registration period.
Students who have studied for at least their last three years at, and completed their secondary education in, secondary education institutions attended by the citizens of a country in which the foreign language designated as the language of instruction is spoken as the native language are exempted from the relevant compulsory foreign language preparatory class and continue with the undergraduate degree programme in which they have enrolled.
The national and international examinations accepted for exemption from the compulsory foreign language preparatory class at the University are valid for 2 (two) years.
For students enrolling at the University for the first time, exemption from the compulsory foreign language preparatory class is determined by a decision of the relevant Faculty/School Executive Board on the basis of the document certifying their achievement in the foreign language preparatory class of another university.
The Foreign Language Examination is conducted in two stages: the “Placement Test” and the “Foreign Language Proficiency Examination”.
