The Department of Political Science and International Relations is a social science field that examines all forms of political relations. Addressing concepts such as power, system, state and government, it examines governance issues arising from people living together. It analyses and compares who does what in the political arena, why and how. It reveals the behaviour patterns of political actors and tries to find regularities among them.

Graduates of the Department of Political Science and International Relations are employed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Strategic Research Centres, and national and international public and private institutions. Graduates also acquire a background suitable for starting careers in multinational companies, the European Commission and the media, as well as in private companies. In addition, they have the chance to pursue an academic career at universities, research centres and similar institutions.
