What Should Türkiye's International Student Strategy Be?
The "INTX 2026 International Student Workshop" was held at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University with the participation of international office representatives from 11 universities. In addition to IZU, representatives from Medipol, Esenyurt, Okan, Haliç, Yeni Yüzyıl, Bahçeşehir, Aydın, Beykent, Bezmialem and Istanbul Universities attended the workshop, where proposals to strengthen and improve Türkiye’s ability to attract international students were discussed.
INTX, a platform that brings together stakeholders in the internationalization of higher education in Türkiye, aims to produce applicable and practical solutions to increase the attraction of international students and improve the quality of the student experience together with universities, international student offices, student unions, non-governmental organizations operating in the field of education and sector representatives. In this year’s workshop, organized with the theme “The impact of student unions and student leadership in attracting international students,” the steps Türkiye can take in areas such as trust, student experience and institutional reputation were evaluated in the context of the global competition for attracting international students.
