The Climate Crisis Is Not a Matter of the Future but of Today
The program titled “Water and Climate: Protecting the Future,” jointly organized by the IZU Nature, Environment and Sustainability Club and the International Water Well Aid Association, was held at the Abdullah Tivnikli Conference Hall. Speaking at the program, Dr. Zaynep Boukari, faculty member of the Department of International Trade and Finance at IZU, addressed the causes and possible consequences of climate change. In her speech, Boukari stated that abnormal events such as forest fires and extreme heat and cold waves are primarily caused by climate change. Noting that projections highlight 2050 as the most critical year, Boukari emphasized that climate change is not a problem of the future but an issue of today, pointing out that we are facing a critical crisis directly affecting many areas such as food security, water, and health.
