Dr. Al-Arian: “Not a Gaza Peace Table, but a Trump-Style Imposition of Surrender”
Dr. Sami Al-Arian, Director of our Center for the Islamic World and Global Relations Application and Research (CIGA), evaluated Trump’s Gaza Plan on TRT World. Describing the process brought to the agenda as “Trump’s table of surrender,” Al-Arian stated that the first phase of the ceasefire did not provide real relief for civilians; deaths continued, and humanitarian aid was delivered in an insufficient and strictly controlled manner. Noting that basic necessities such as food, medicine, fuel, and shelter were used as instruments of pressure, Al-Arian emphasized that mass displacement and severe humanitarian losses persisted.
Underlining that the plans regarding the second phase were far from producing a reciprocal and just solution, CIGA Director Dr. Sami Al-Arian stated that the plan reflected the security-centered approach of the Donald Trump era, while Palestinians’ political rights and future were pushed into the background. Evaluating proposals for the disarmament of Hamas and the establishment of a “technocratic” administration, Al-Arian emphasized that Palestinians were not granted genuine political agency and that the arrangements on the table did not offer a concrete path toward a two-state solution. According to Al-Arian, this process represents not a lasting and just peace, but merely a temporary pause in violence.
