Student Study Mobility with Erasmus+ Programme Countries

Study mobility, the most important component of the Erasmus+ programme, enables students at higher education institutions to study in another participating country for a period ranging from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 12 months. Full-time students enrolled at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University may apply for Erasmus+ mobility to a partner university in any European Union member state with which their department has an agreement.

How to Apply

Students wishing to apply must complete the online application form available at https://applyerasmus.izu.edu.tr/.

Application Documents

  • The online application form must be completed in full.
  • A photograph must be attached to the application form.
  • Students may indicate a maximum of 3 university preferences when applying.
  • Documents relating to relatives of martyrs and veterans, disability status, and protection, care or accommodation decisions under Social Services Law No. 2828 must be uploaded to the online application system, if available. (The originals of these documents must subsequently be submitted to the Erasmus Institutional Coordination Office.)
  • Language exam result certificate (Result certificates for the TOEFL-IBT, TOEFL-CBT, TOEFL-PBT, YDS, YÖKDİL and IELTS exams recognised as equivalent by the university may be uploaded to the system, or candidates may register via the online application form for the most recent Erasmus Language Proficiency Exam to be held by the Foreign Languages Coordination Office.)
  • An official transcript (signed and sealed) obtained from the Academic Affairs unit showing the student's cumulative grade point average must be uploaded at the time of application. (Applicants should keep a copy of the transcript they obtain. The application transcript must be dated no earlier than 28 February 2018.)

Minimum Requirements

To take part in the activity, students must first meet the following minimum requirements:

  • The student must be enrolled as a full-time student in a higher education programme at any level of formal education (bachelor's, master's or doctoral) within the higher education institution;
  • a) Undergraduate students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.20/4.00,
  • b) Master's and doctoral students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50/4.00;
  • Documentation of foreign language proficiency at B2 level;
  • Having a sufficient ECTS credit load for study mobility,
  • If the student has previously benefited from higher education mobility activities under Erasmus+ or the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) within the current study cycle, the total duration including the new activity must not exceed 12 months.

The evaluation criteria and weighted scores used in assessing mobility applications are as follows:

**For prioritisation, the student must present a letter from the Ministry of Family and Social Policies stating that a protection, care or shelter decision has been taken in respect of them under Law No. 2828.

***The application of "-10 points" for previous participation does not apply to mobilities carried out at a previous study cycle or to mobilities other than higher education student/traineeship mobility. It applies where a student who has already carried out a mobility applies again within the same study cycle.

Erasmus+ Mobility with Grant Option

Under the Erasmus+ Programme, selected students may receive an Erasmus+ grant to cover their living expenses during the mobility period. The distribution of grants depends on the number of applications, the destination country and the budget allocated by the Turkish National Agency. The Erasmus+ grant is a contribution and may not cover 100% of the expenses incurred before and during the mobility (such as visa, accommodation, flight tickets and living expenses). In such cases, the student must cover the remaining amount themselves.

Erasmus+ Mobility without Grant Option

Students may exercise this right by selecting the "Without Grant" option on the online form during the application, or by notifying the Erasmus Institutional Coordination Office after the results have been announced. Whether they are selected with or without a grant, Erasmus+ students do not pay tuition, registration, examination or library fees to the university they attend.

Additional Grant Opportunity for Persons with Special Needs

Students with disabilities may receive an additional grant for their mobility according to their specific needs. For detailed information, please contact the Erasmus Institutional Coordination Office.

Points to Consider When Applying

  • Each student will be selected for a grant for one semester only, either Fall or Spring. For this reason, please apply for one semester only.
  • Students selected for the Fall semester may apply to extend their period while their mobility is under way, should the grants allocated to the University increase.
  • Please examine the academic calendar of your preferred institution carefully before making your choice and make sure that it is compatible with the İZÜ academic calendar.
  • Students are required to take courses worth 30 ECTS per semester. For this reason, please check on the website of the relevant university (this information may be listed under headings such as ECTS Course Catalogue or ECTS Info Pack) whether there are courses you can take during your Erasmus period at your preferred institution, and make your choices in consultation with your Erasmus Department/Programme Coordinator.
  • The minimum activity period is 3 months for each student. Students who leave the programme before completing this period will definitely not receive a grant unless there is a force majeure. Students who are obliged to leave the programme earlier than planned due to force majeure must document this with official records.
